Surface Decoration Workshop
In this 3-hour pottery workshop, designed for potters with beginner to intermediate level of surface decoration experience, we will explore four different types of surface design .
The workshop will focus on four different techniques of surface decoration: carving straight into the piece, sgraffito, slip trailing, and water etching. The instructor will break down each technique, allowing participants to gain a thorough understanding of each method and experiment with different designs.
At the end of the workshop, participants will have a better understanding of different surface decoration techniques and how to apply them to their pottery. Participants will leave the workshop with a newfound confidence in their ability to decorate their pottery and find their voice in ceramics. Students are expected to come prepared with white leatherhard clay to practice on.
